Went there for Valentine’s Day with the wife. Food and service was great. They had a Valentine’s Day menu and you couldn’t order from the regular one but this menu was well worth the cost. Truly great experience.

It was an absolutely amazing experience. We were running a bit for our reserved time of 8pm, but they were more than accommodating. The atmosphere was cozy, and romantic given it was Valentine's Day. We were quickly seated and even though it was quite busy, we did not have to wait long for our server to hand us the Valentine's Day menu and take our drink order. The food was amazing, considering it was my first time experiencing French style cuisine. The server recommended a delicious wine to pair with the meal. I had the veal chop, and I can tell you it was the most tender, flavorful cut of meat I've had. The bill came out a bit steep, but nothing I wasn't prepared for with it being a fine dining restaurant. I would definitely like to experience their regular menu items and will make it a priority to return when I'm in the area again.

Remarkable Valentines Day Dinner- from the time we got into the room with a delightful fireplace until we wlked out the door. While this was a special prefix ($105/person) it was a worthwhile experience Apptizers of fois gras and a trufle pork sauage -main coures of a seafood vol au vent and perfectly roasted amb chops, and a best ever raspberry souffle to finish. Serviice was attentitive and not overbearing- it was a magical night of dinning. We have been there a fair number of times before- and it has maintained its high standards consistently for nearly 50 years.

This was our first dining experience at La Chaumiere and it was delightful. The service, food, and ambience along with the low noise level exceeded our expectations. We'll definitely return.

One of my favorite restaurants. I had a business lunch today in the main dining room, which has a lovely fireplace and tables with white table cloths. The service was efficient and professional as usual. The mussel special today was out of this world, as were the soufflés. My chicken scallopine special was a bit rubbery, though the flavor profile was good. I had asked for my leftovers to be packed and some but not all of them were. Many couples were here for a Valentine’s lunch and taking pictures.

What a spectacular lunch today. The crab flan and the fish stew were really excellent as were the onion soup and trout almondine. A very special chocolate and a grand mariner soufflé were the best I’ve ever had. Service was spot on. Really made it a special day for us!

As you asked me, here is my frustration of last night . I am French, have been going regularly for the last 20 years in La Chaumiere, I considered it the best French restaurant in DC for many reasons (good food, beautiful comfy room, easy localization and very nice waiters ( some for years are not there any longer) . I discovered a NEW cuisine, RE VISITED perhaps and if that is the case they should change the French cuisine in French Moderne cuisine?! All the vegetables were like raw. Not very French. My husband did not take his favorite plate of Thursday night : the Cassoulet because he said he had one the Thursday and wasn't great. What's happening there ?
