From July 1st, 1957, there had been two owners of Pates, Cloyde Pate followed by the Gardner family of Chatham. Mr. Pate opened the doors to what would soon become one of Cape Cod’s most beloved restaurants. Once a cozy hamburger and ice cream stand, Pates grew to be a place of celebration, camaraderie, and community. From the bonds staff made during countless summer seasons, to the engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, and family gatherings, Pates has been a backdrop for exceptional moments and people.     My husband and I visited Chatham for the first time in the winter and loved the peace and quiet and plenty of parking! We had a lovely Valentine lunch at the Wild Goose, are go to restaurant anytime we visit Chatham. As always the food and service were great. We were welcomed by a warm fire as you entered the restaurant and only wish we had time to relax by it after lunch ….. but Grandparent duty called as we had to make it back up to Scituate to pick up our grandsons after school. We will come back at this time of year again!

    Delightful! As locals here for the first time, we had heard that it was noisy and out-of-this-world expensive. We found neither to be true. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening, the pace of service, and our server Amy was excellent.
