Tex-Mex cuisine began in the Rio Grande Valley before migrating up to San Antonio during the l860's where a group of women known as The Chili Queens' began to pop up in the city's plazas selling chili con carne with tamales, enchiladas, and chili verde. They incorporated cumin into their dishes favored by settlers from theCanary lslands, which still has a strong influence on Mexican food in Texas. An understated storefront hides a coveted skyline view—just one of the many ways you could underestimate this longtime cafe on Mount Baker’s main drag. The menu, the sign—even the name—are a bit of a throwback, but current owners Guy Devillier and David Hoefer took over in 2018 and keep things attuned to today. Carbonara packs more nuance than you might expect, the slightly crackly pizza’s better than it has to be, and the bar pours lambrusco and negroni. No wonder tables are loaded with a diversity of diners.

    Great views, wonderful service and food was outstanding. We went for my boyfriend’s birthday and they had confetti on table and a signed bday card for him! Brought him out a slice of the most amazing cake with a candle. Made the whole experience really great.

    Excellent cocktails - the appetizer spreads with pita bread was 'melt-in-your-mouth' delicious. The entrees were generous and very nicely presented .. and delicious as well. Overall experience was a great Valentine's Day dinner. Service was attentive, responsive, and very personable.

    First time to Pink Door and it did not disappoint! Everything we had was fabulous, the service was great as was the atmosphere! I felt at times I was in the 50’s with the decor and music which was fun! They even had real candles! We will definitely be returning!

    I had family here from California, and we arranged to meet at this restaurant, which I had been to once previously. I remembered that it was good, and also that it was near Seattle Center, and I had a hunch these two would want to poke around over there once our meal was done, so it was a perfect location. The service was warm and friendly, but never intrusive, and the food was divine. I ordered the "sweet stuff" French toast with caramel and strawberries; nobody else makes it like this, and it was mouthwatering! I also ordered (to go) some "soft scramble" eggs with asparagus and Dungeness crab. It's so hard to get real, fresh crab anymore, what with the overfishing, but my eggs had actual leg segments of crab in them, a perfect ratio of filling to egg. The eggs came with their amazing potatoes, and my husband and I had that dish, along with a small amount of leftovers from my French Toast, for dinner that night. This may be my favorite Seattle restaurant right now! The cherry on the sundae, so to speak, was that when we were finished, we sat and chatted and nobody seemed anxious to kick us out of our booth. Oh hell yes.
