Consistently excellent, this East Village gem is known for innovation and excellence in Roman cuisine. While Chef Salvatore Corea creates a seasonal menu, partners Alessandro Peluso and Giusto Priola note that Cacio e Pepe remains faithful to its signature namesake dish: home-made pasta brought to your table and spun in a wheel of pecorino cheese, then dusted with a flourish of pepper. Voted a ‘Critic’s Pick’ by New York Magazine, Cacio e Pepe is celebrated by reviewers as a classic Italian restaurant with a sense of style: A 50-seat garden is set behind the main dining room, there is al-fresco dining out front, and waiters with superior wine knowledge help you select the perfect beverage accompaniment to your meal. The mystery remains whether it is the garden, the cuisine, or the service which lifts Cacio e Pepe above and beyond its peers on the NYC restaurant scene. The answer, however, may best be expressed in French: It has that je ne se qua.

My wife and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary at Hawksmoor last night. The ambience, service and the food were exceptional. For appetizers we had the scallops ( best dish of the night ) and the potted beef. For our main we went with the porterhouse for two and the beef fat fries. Steak was cooked perfectly and the fries were amazing. For dessert we had the pavlova and a anniversary surprise.

We came to this place under the premise that the food was outstanding based on the Michelin rating and social media touting that the food was comparably to that in Thailand…..this was the reason we booked. The service was lovely, everyone friendly and attentive which is always appreciated. The shrimp pancake appetizer was an interactive delicious experience. The rose quartz drink I had done virgin and enjoyed. The shrimp pad Thai was delicious, noodles done well, very tasty. The Wagyu pho was recommended and underwhelming honestly. We enjoyed both of the desserts we ordered, the crème brûlée and mango ice cream served with sticky rice….this was a highlight for us. Would I say Value….Probably Not.

One of the best dining experiences I've had in a long while. A very simple, pleasant, and cozy atmosphere with attentive service and great food. White-painted walls and comfortably-sized tables not on top of each other allow you to feel relaxed and welcomed. A noise level low enough to have a conversation without shouting or straining to hear and background music which is just that is such a rarity these days that even if the food were disappointing (which it definitely is NOT), I'd be happy to return. The waitstaff - we had Jasmine - was friendly but not obtrusive and she seemed to genuinely enjoy being there. She had enthusiasm for the menu without being pushy. One of our party had been there a number of weeks ago and she remembered what he's ordered. She gently cautioned that my entree selection was on the light side, but it was just right for me, as it turned out. And then the food. For appetizers, we shared the arugula-fennel salad (dressed and prepared perfectly so not to be as bitter as elsewhere) and the whipped ricotta trio (bruschetta with different toppings) was light, yet satisfying. The focaccia with olive oil provided for the table was among the best I've had. My entree was the obviously home-made pulled pork tortellini in a very flavorful brothy sauce and was a delight. These were not the heavy little tortellini one usually encounters but delicate pasta packets with just the right proportion of filling-to-pasta. My overall assessment of the savory food is thoughtful, skillful preparation with a perfect degree of seasoning. For dessert we shared the tiramisu, which did not disappoint. Light but rich and not too sweet, it struck the right note to end the evening. The prices were good and they offer a nice discount for paying in cash. I truly look forward to returning soon.
