- RRichardNewcastle and Northumberland •2 reviews5.0Dined todayWe had a lovely meal and experience with one notable exception. Each of the 4 people who ordered the Pork main course were disappointed with their meal. We had expected a roast pork meal. The offering was altogether too firm and the plate entirely brown. This was a big disappointment to half of our party. The other half of the party were entirely happy.More infoBlackfriars RestaurantPrice: Expensive• British• Newcastle upon Tyne•4.6

- PPeterCumbria •1 review4.0Dined 4 days agoA very good 3 course lunch. High quality food throughout and an exceptional belly pork and liver sauce starter. An extensive wine list. Aiming for a fine dining experience and largely succeeding. Fish main course could have been more generous size wise - I felt I got the amount I'd expect on the 7 course tasting menu which if it was available at lunchtimes I would gladly pursue.More infoThe Black BullPrice: Moderate• British• Kendal•4.6
- PPatriciaCumbria •1 review5.0Dined 7 days agoFestive roast beef for two was excellent. Christmas pudding with sauce was very good. The trifle would have been better avoided. The topping was cream with pink sprinkles better suited to a children’s menu. The cream had a synthetic taste. The next layer was a rubbery red jelly. The base was a large amount of very dry sponge cake. I suspect it hadn’t seen a teaspoonful of sherry let alone the large quantity the menu suggested it would have. I declined to pay for this dessert. We would however return to the Cross Keys for another main course.More infoThe Cross Keys InnPrice: Moderate• British• Penrith•4.4
- BGBridgetGBath/Somerset •2 reviews4.0Dined on May 14, 2024I chose the chicken satay skewers. Sadly the chicken was burnt on the outside and very dry . The coconut and peanut dip tasted only of mayonnaise. The fries were okay. My partner had the suet pudding and mashed potatoes. He ate it all. We had a chocolate pud with vanilla ice cream. The chocolate cake was dry and the vanilla ice cream was grey and didn't taste of vanilla at all. Very disappointed. We have eaten out every night on the CtC and it's been really good but last night even though I was very hungry I left my food. So it wasn't good .More infoThe Black Bull HotelPrice: Moderate• Pub• Penrith•3.6
