Restaurants near Birri

I eat here every time I’m in San Jose … it’s always excellent. I was going to leave a less than 5 star review as the hostess was rude when we checked in and then seated us at the bar with a metal pole right on front of us when there were other seats available. Fortunately bartender Alex allowed us to move and provided amazing drinks and service for the rest of the night. Had it not been for Alex, this review would have been much different.

The octopus tacos were amazing. And the Paloma was 1 of the best I’ve had

Dinner on the terrace was served by a lovely waitress who was sympathetic to our jet lag. But the food was bland and not terribly appetizing. We found the portions unecessarily enormous. Breakfast was fine. Not great but fine.

Last night in Costa Rica and also a birthday dinner. Service was great. Food was delicious and situated in the Spanish hacienda style Marriott hotel. Entrees come with a choice of two sides that are amazing and served in little cast iron skillets. Whole fish and skirt steak were both perfectly cooked. It was a delightful meal and the staff were attentive and so kind.

Great experience for a birthday event. Some of the food was a bit over salty but for the most part very good. Service was great from the host and all waitresses. Thank you so much for the great experience.
