Tonight I had a lovely French Onion Soup with the perfect amount of carefully toasted cheese, croutons and onions. The broth alone is a worthy, rich appetizer. The macaroni and cheese was the ultimate comfort food for this chilly evening - cheesy without being too thick or too soft - that I paired with a basic but tasty mixed green salad to make me feel healthy. I finished with my favorite dessert - the toffee pudding. It is sweet with just a touch of chewy caramelization on the crust to contrast with the tender center and an accent spoonful of perfect whipped cream. The staff - from the maitre’d to the waitresses to the servers and busboys - are exceptionally kind, efficient and just nice people. But, the overall ambiance was great, as were the servers. We started with a delicious bottle of COS Nero di Lupo wine, from Sicily. Our app for the 3 of us, was the Buratta, which when spread on the great bread for the table, was really good. My wife had the bucatini cacio e pepe was good, but a bit gummy. Taste was great. My son had the Ossobuco ravioli in its sauce, pecorino fondue, thyme and lemon. He rated that as excellent! I tasted and agreed. I opted for the Green Tagliatelle with Wild Boar Ragù Flavoured with Herbs and Black Truffle. Fantastic! When I made the reservation, I noted that we were there for my older son's birthday. They surprised him with cannolis and a candle. Nice touch! One additional comment, there are many wine options, but the vast majority are quite expensive. The one bottle I asked for, which was somewhat reasonable, was out of stock. The bottle we did get was $25 more, but as stated above, delicious. I do highly recommend this restaurant!More infoPiccola Cucina EstiatorioPrice: Moderate• Italian• SoHo•4.7
