Founded in 1934 while the country was in the throes of the Great Depression and just one year removed from the repeal of prohibition, Jimmy Kelly made a promise to himself and his diners. Simply put, he would serve a great steak, a generous portion of whiskey and insure the service was always attentive. Making good on that promise has been the cornerstone of the restaurant’s success and enabled it to survive and flourish. Now over 80 years later and operated by the third generation of Kellys, it has earned a reputation as one of the grand old restaurants not only in Nashville but the entire southeast.     Great steak! Had the Dry Aged Ribeye cooked medium. For sides I had the roasted sweet potatoes & smoked mac and cheese - wasn’t too fond of the sides. The gooey chocolate brownie cake was amazing 😩. Overall I’d dine here again.

    As it was Valentine's day, the restaurant was very busy. There apparently some kind of issue with my reservation made through OpenTable. Fortunately, when I politely brought it to their attention, they seated us at the next available table. The entrees were good as always, service was a little slow, but again it was a very busy night. The only disappointment was dessert. My wife and I like key lime pie. What we received was of poor quality and pleated poorly. I think the server was embarrassed to serve it, as she immediately took it off or our bill without us saying a word. I will certainly go there again for entrees, but not on such a busy night.

    Wierd place to get great food. Located in a Marriott, so zero “character” - we were disappointed when our driver dropped us there after reading great reviews. BUT they had an outstanding singer doing live covers with a guitar and keyboard who was crazy talented and the service was outstanding. The hot chicken sandwich was not hot but it was outstanding - moist, flavorful, and big. Service was friendly but not overbearing. Not a place to go out of your way to get to but definitely a solid choice for good well priced food.
