Restaurants near Chester Historic District

The food, drinks and overall experience was extraordinary! We were celebrating one of our best friends birthday and it was the best restaurant we could have chosen. Our waitress, Kaila, was so kind, extremely attentive and very knowledgeable. Honestly, everybody we interacted with was kind. For drinks, I ordered 2 amaretto sours and my friend had a Paloma as well as an amaretto sour. The bartender is superb! For appetizers, My friend ordered the deviled eggs with fried shrimp and I ordered the lobster rolls. The lobster rolls were a bit overcooked and Kaila immediately jumped into action. I didn’t want to replace them since I was ordering more food but she brought me a replacement, on the house might I add, just to make sure I was satisfied. I couldn’t have been more pleased! For dinner, I ordered the wet aged ribeye steak and the corn brûlée, my friend ordered the lamb chops with the loaded mashed potatoes and the bday girlie ordered a NY strip steak with a tomato salad. The steaks and lamb chops were cooked beautifully! Absolutely delicious! The sides were really good as well!! The corn is a bit on the sweeter side of course but was still very good. At the end of dinner, Kaila made sure that the birthday girl had her a celebratory dessert to go! This was our first time here and we will absolutely be back!!

Started with drinks at the bar, very good. Enjoyed the cocktail class with Bob Peters, awesome! He is so experienced and dedicated to the craft with a great personality. Did the chef experience after the class, new manager I think Drew Carter. This was 1 star. No menu options, showed the chef would offer us something specific with wine pairing. First course was a side salad with nothing special, cheddar cheese was store bought and flavorless. Also you wouldn’t take the blue cheese dressing with the cheddar cheese. Paired with a run of the mill Chardonnay, ok strike one. Main course turned out to be country fried steak, mashed potatoes with black eye peas and Brussels. This dish was good for what it was, but come on, I can get this at Cracker Barrel. Paired with a Pinot noir, I think beer with country fried steak. Let down. Last course was lava cake, yeah……not. Was room temp so chocolate didn’t flow, disappointed because 30 seconds in the microwave would have made this great. Paired with a white dessert wine, should have been a port for the rich chocolate. We will be back for the cocktail class and off the menu, but will pass on the experience.

Another outstanding meal at Kounter! Our server Evan did a terrific job helping us get out the door when we realized we had to go NOW for an event. The crab dip was delicious, the Brussels sprouts are always amazing, but the star of the show on Friday were the mussels. Don't ignore that delicious broth they're served in! I would gladly repeat the meal every night. I do wish the high top tables were just a smidge bigger. So many dishes, so little room, especially with a bottle of wine and a couple of glasses per person.

Great experience and the decor is fabulous. Sterling our server was patient, professional, and provided excellent service. The food is always consistent and delicious.

Shayne was awesome! My NC Mountain Stuffed Trout was delicious, the lemon ver blanc was amazing with the sweet potatoes, my hibiscus breeze was so good I ordered another. The view was incredible! Beautiful way to begin my birthday celebrations!
