Restaurants near Civic Opera House

I have eaten here a few times and it is usually very good. This meal left a lot to be desired. I ordered a prime steak because 'prime' is supposed to be tender and have more marbling than the Australian grass-fed. My steak was tough and not much flavor other than the outside sear. I only ate a couple bites. I was looking forward to the roasted garlic bulb that came on my plate, but the cloves were all very hard and solid instead of being soft and creamy and were not enjoyable so I ended up leaving most of that on my plate. I think someone had an accident with the pepper when making the french potato puree. The pepper was the only thing you could taste. It was so overwhelming that again I could not eat more than a few bites of it. I was very surprised at the poor quality of most of my dishes considering my previous meals there. I kept quiet at the restaurant about the disappointing meal because I didn't want to ruin the atmosphere with my dining companion.

Great evening of dining with Iberico Ham and octopus peaks of the evening. Great ambience and an exceptional mixologist at the bar. Only disappointment was the King Salmon Entree which was soft, an amalgam of fish without the distinct layers of separation and the fatiness.

Overall the experience was wonderful. The place is clean and beautiful. The food was very good. We did the tasting menu. The food came out way too fast. At one point they delivered three dishes at the same time. One was hot, another had a foam… so both required timely consumption. If I am paying for an expensive tasting menu, time the food delivery. Dishes were mostly on the saltier side, which made us thirsty, but our water glasses remained empty many times despite otherwise good service.
