The late Rocco Diorio was responsible for the fine traditional food and many lasting memories for most of the people in the greater Waterbury area. The restaurant was closed in 1980 and reopened in 1991 after total restoration to its original splendor. The legend continues as we remain true to those endearing memories. We have the original marble bar, over-sized mahogany bankers booths, tin ceiling, and the most impressive acid-etched mirrors displaying historical Waterbury. Arethusa was a special place for an anniversary celebration. The food was delicious and service spot on. There were actually more appetizer selections than mains but the entrees were interesting with an emphasis on fish. If there is anything to mention the restaurant could have been a little warmer since the door opens directly onto the dining room and it was a cold night.

My first visit there sat at the bar. Chris makes incredible cocktails best I’ve had the food was extraordinary. Service was amazing. Atmosphere was wonderful. Will definitely be coming back repeatedly. Thank you for an incredible evening, Margaret.
