On a sunny day, tables are allocated outside based on the date the booking was made (early birds!) We will do our upmost to accommodate you outside if we can. We have zero tolerance for aggressive behaviour.The Boatman, is Windsor’s only pub on the river at the foot of Windsor Castle overlooking Eton Bridge. Serving freshly cooked food all day everyday from midday to 9pm at night, in the cosy bar, restaurant or in the stunning riverside all-weather conservatory, there is a fine selection of wine, ales, cocktails to choose from. The bar area and terrace is dog friendly, we cannot accept any pets in the conservatory or restaurant.

Situated on the High Street of Eton, close to the River Thames and between the historic buildings of Eton College and Windsor Castle, Gilbey's is open from 12 noon for lunch and 6pm for dinner every day.Originally an old butcher's shop, we created one of the first wine bars outside London in 1975 - The Eton Wine Bar. After 25 years of success, we changed the name in 2000 to Gilbey's, having recognised that our food had outgrown the original wine bar concept.     Lovely meal. Dined in the outside area which was very pretty. Nice and warm, noise levels were good but it was pretty quiet.

    The Poisonnerie was suprb The service was fantastic and it was a beautiful day so having lunch outside on the Thames was a wonderful experience as was meeting my second daughter totally unexpectedly

    Gilbey's is the perfect place to stay and eat on a trip to Eton and/or Windsor. Comfortable, quiet, and spacious accommodation; lovely restaurant with delicious, inventive, and reasonably priced food; and courteous and helpful service.

    We stopped in fur a brew mid afternoon and a client near us was nibbling on a plate of meats & cheeses which looked delicious. We then popped back at 9pm for cocktails & Hamish created our favourite French Martinis & Pip was an amazing hostess. The ambience on Friday 28/2/25 was just perfect with background music blending with conversations. A little gem of an establishment…and opposite our hotel too…win win!

    Food was delicious. There is a beautiful internal eating area with great ambience. If you see it looking empty from the seats by the windows, the internal room is most likely full, so don't be put off. We went first weekend in Jan which is quiet for restaurants. We will be coming back.
