The restaurant is fairly new with a vibrant, beautifully decorated and laid back, urban, mountain feel that is cozy and inviting. It is easy to get to from just about any surrounding town located in the recently revitalized 7th Street area of Hendersonville with wide sidewalks and ample lighting. Street parking was readily available (although we did eat early). Yummy craft cocktails are their specialty but Executive Chef Tory Bogin is the real draw. We had the pleasure of enjoying his food when he was the Sous Chef at the Silo Cookhouse in the Horseshoe Farm almost 2 years ago where he was an up and coming Culinary Star - a real show-stopper. Now, running his own kitchen at Claywood, his use of locally sourced seasonal foods is to be savored bite by bite. His indepth knowledge of flavor combinations and his ability to bring fresh, new ideas to your palate is a treasured experience. Service is paramount and you feel well-attended to by friendly, polished staff members. We sat at the bar and had a perfectly paced array of experiences from cocktails, wine, appetizers, mains and dessert. Our food was hot, delicious and we never felt hurried. I had scallops with tender baby turnips in a "bacon broth" - divine - and the agnolotti for dinner. I love mushrooms and can never get enough. My husband had the roasted sunchokes which were amazingly flavorful and the lamb chops for dinner. The chops were tender and presentation was beautiful. The portions were perfect and satisfying. The noise level was totally fine despite a nearly packed main floor and bar. We can't wait to go back.

We had family visiting from New Mexico and so it was an important meal for us. We weren't disappointed! The food was delicious! Two had the strip steak and two had the hamburger pie. Both were very good. The service was great and the view and surroundings were everything we could hope for. It was a bit pricey but worth it to have a wonderful family occasion..l

Lamb Sirloin and Sides were outstanding. Deidra has waited on us before and was so excellent. We request her when able. Wine by the bottle moderately priced and encourages a bottle purchase over by the glass. Outstanding restaurant in downtown HVL. Easy parking at the 5th Ave. ramp.
