Mertens Prime, located in the historic 1914 New Hotel Mertens lobby in Grand Rapids, offers locally sourced, in-house hand-cut steaks, chops, and unique takes on classics. The Heritage is one of the many classroom/laboratory facilities operated by the Secchia Institute for Culinary Education at Grand Rapids Community College. The restaurant is staffed by students in the culinary programs and is under the direct supervision of Chef and Dining Room Professors.During lunch, your meal will be prepared and served by first year students. The meals represent International Cuisine with modern and classical touches. In the evening, The Heritage reopens to feature a relaxed atmosphere, more Continental Cuisine, and our second year students will serve and prepare your meal. The Secchia Institute for Culinary Education restaurants and kitchens are classroom settings. We take pride in them. Our students prepare our meals daily with the finest seasonally available ingredients including freshly baked artisan bread.

    I would return to Tupelo honey. We arrived at the end of happy hour (5:45p); there was a wide variety of inexpensive food and drink options. The food was all very good, and a GREAT value at happy hour prices. I'd not have felt the same outside of happy hour. The service was a bit lacking, but only because they got slammed shortly after our arrival.

    Fantastic gluten free menu items that are safely prepared and delicious highlight Mexo’s menu for us. Ambience and service are excellent. Food quality is top notch. We ordered multiple appetizers to share and soup and had plenty of food. We would highly recommend Mexo!!

    UPDATE: The manager reached out to me right away and wanted to make it right. Very impressed about his concern for a good experience!! Will be trying the meal again :) First time dining here. Enjoyed the atmosphere and we had good waitress. Food out was a little slow, but the biggest downside was my dinner. I got the new Mushroom Tofu bowl. It was mostly brown rice and really dry. I had 6 mushrooms on it and about only a couple of inchlong shreds of slaw! There were also few onions and then the tofu pieces. VERY underwhelming.
