We are a Laotian restaurant in the heart of the neighborhood of Shaw. Baan Mae means Mom's house in Laotian. Chef Seng of Thip Khao and Padaek is serving up dishes reminiscent of her home kitchen and her mother's kitchen. Mom's House Reservation Policy:All reservations are allowed a 15-minute grace period. All parties must be present at the restaurant to be seated. Haikan is our second Sapporo Ramen shop in DC after Daikaya. Haikan means, “pipe works” in Japanese, an ode to Atlantic Plumbing Building where we are located. At Haikan, we focused on creating the taste of ramen from the showa period, the golden age of ramen in Japan. There are over 1000 ramen shops in the city of Sapporo alone, and we are excited to share a completely new line-up of traditional Sapporo style ramen in DC. In addition to ramen, we are serving a playful selection of Japanese-inspired kozara (small plates) to share, or to start with, or to make a whole meal of by picking a few of them.     We ate at Mita for their unbelievable Tasting menu for my birthday. It was an absolute production from the moment we walked in until we were escorted out the door. We have eaten in 5 star Michelin restaurants in major cities all over the world, and Mita fits in every well with them. Each time we thought it couldn’t get any better, another amazingly creative, delicious dish showed up to wow our senses. The food was beautifully plated and the servers are experts at the placement and description of them. The entire experience was one for the record books. My birthday was perfect.

    We LOVED it here! The parking was easy. The vibe was cool. The service was quick, cheerful and attentive! The people in the next table celebrated a birthday and the presentation was cute and festive! The food was AMAZING and the drinks were delicious and not watered down. 10/10! Highly recommend! Will absolutely return!
