Le Yaca began in 1964 in Courchevel, a tiny, country village in the French Alps. Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans, they told the hopeful restaurateurs they were crazy to think people would drive eight kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner. Daniele and Gerard hesitated for three months and then decided, “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “il n’y a qu’a le faire,” which basically means, “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag, but the name caught on with customers who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States and opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg. Daniel Abid bought Le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge," and to top it all off, “Alain Ducass

We had a great birthday dinner at Christiana Campbell Tavern Stephanie our server was excellent, there was some informative entertainment, and the food was delicious. Every single dish that we had was amazing. The specialty drinks are also really good. I had a whiskey punch and it was amazing! Totally recommend the Christiana Campbell Tavern. They did a great job post Christmas. I have to say that the crabcakes were excellent and we are from the Chesapeake region… So we know good crabcakes!

We always enjoy Le Yaca for special occasions! The only disappointment last night was the soup…supposed to be a tomato, apple, cumin but we start enjoying the soup and not tasting these flavors…it was asparagus, as they ran out of the tomato soup! Soup still delicious but as I told our server…What if someone was allergic to asparagus 😬! This won’t stop us from returning…great food & service 👍❤️😋

My wife and I recently celebrated her birthday at Schlesinger’s Steakhouse, and it was an exceptional experience. The ambience was perfect—not too light or too dark—creating an intimate atmosphere. The decor is beautiful, and the layout is thoughtfully designed. A fun touch was the complimentary mouthwash in the restrooms—it made me chuckle but was a surprisingly nice addition. The food selection was fantastic, with so many tempting options that it was hard to choose just one. We ended up ordering the filet mignon and pork chops, and both dishes were so well prepared that we kept picking off each other’s plates. The sides were excellent complements to the mains and added to the overall dining experience. Our waitress, Megan, was outstanding—knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. Her expertise and professionalism really stood out and enhanced the evening. The wine selection was also impressive, offering a wide variety to suit any taste. The location is quiet, safe, and offers plenty of parking, making it even more convenient. Schlesinger’s Steakhouse is truly a top-tier dining destination, and we can’t wait to return!

We did a round of dinner visits to three of the colonial taverns during Christmas week. The wait staff/Historical interpreters really make the experience and we had three very good ones. The food was all good but I didn't have high expectations for the beef and I was not surprised that it was good but not great. We were there for the experience and all the other food was pretty good as were the drinks and local beer. It was a fun time and an experience that we'd probably do occasionally when visiting WIlliamsburg. We'd recommend it for anyone who hasn't been
