Restaurants near Oskar G. Stonorov House

We were celebrating a birthday and seated in a booth in the bar area on Tuesday evening. We were delighted to find plenty of parking and a great atmosphere. The restaurant looks fabulous. Our server whose name is Grace was fabulous, attentive and thorough. She made it fun with her quick wit and sense of humor. The crispy cauliflower app, truffle fries, trout, flounder and crab cakes were all delicious. Tuesday is a great night to eat at The White Dog.

Cedar Hollow Inn is a nice casual dining spot with a local bar crowd, great food and a comfortable country atmosphere. Their mushroom soup is the best. They have a good wine list and variety of beers and some top shelf liquors. Its 20 minutes from my house and a world away in the country. We go there several times a year and are never disappointed. Our server was very nice and on the ball. Definitely go there.

Service is attentive but not pushy. Shrimp nachos were nice and light, the pastrami Reuben was tender, but greasy. Still, I ate the whole thing. Nice variety of food and drink choices available. It was a little noisy, but it is a bar. I would go back and I would recommend it.

The new jockey Tavern is absolutely gorgeous. It’s one of the best remodels I’ve ever seen. Each room has A different feel and theme. You can’t even believe you’re in the same restaurant as McKenzies. This is probably my fifth or sixth time there since the remodel and I was a frequenter of McKenzie‘s prior for many years. A month or so ago I had the shrimp and scallop curry, and I typically don’t like curry and it was absolutely delicious. There was like five huge scallops. They were cooked as good as any seafood or steakhouse and I told my friend and she decided to get it. I got the miso salmon with drunken noodles. My food came out beautifully prepared just a little spicier than I would’ve liked but very delicious and still had leftovers. Her food - she said it tasted good, but there was like one scallop in the whole dish. The waitress had commented that it was a very popular dish, so I don’t know if they were running low, but they would’ve been better off to tell her that it was not available if they didn’t have enough to completely satisfy the order. That’s the only reason I’m giving the food and the value less than five stars I do highly recommend getting a reservation. Had we not had one we never would’ve gotten in. See that they are really doing the business. It is definitely worth checking out. For the ambience alone. It’s Gorgeous .

My wife and I were finally able to enjoy my Christmas gift of dinner at this favorite. As usual, the food and service was top flight. Our waiter did not rush us. The branzino was outstanding. My snapper soup was terriffic. The Roasted Lamb Shoulder Ragout was other-worldly. We were seated in the front porch next to a window and it was very cold outside and some of that cold seeped through the windows such that my wife needed her overcoat on her shoulders. Otherwise, the evening was perfect.
