Judith is a new American tavern pairing warm hospitality and the cooking of James Beard Nominated Chef Julia Sullivan (Henrietta Red in Nashville) located in the quiet area of Sewanee, TN near the University of the South. The name is an homage to Judith Ward Lineback, the first woman to matriculate into the University in 1969.As Sullivan’s first solo project, Judith will feature a seasonal menu of creative and approachable dishes including a selection of small, shareable plates perfect for the bar crowd. The beverage program mirrors the food with accessible wines and a cocktail list created by Henrietta Red's Beverage Manager Patrick Halloran.The warehouse-style building, previously the Old Steam Laundry which serviced the University since the 1950’s, has additional space for private dining and parties. Stunning views in the loveliest of cozy spaces on a gloomy, misty day. Greeted by a roaring fire, cushy pillows in the banquet, fine furnishings and a feel of prestigious club. Tasteful winter greenery adorning the chandeliers, windows and mantle. Waiter, Davey, was attentive, kind and knowledgeable. Delicious hot toddy drink should be featured on winter menu. Husband’s steak special and daughter’s burger superb. My supposed to be hot turkey sandwich was good but I was surprised that it was cold turkey lunch meat at a fine establishment like this one with a chef! Roast and slice your own turkey breast for goodness sake. Breads were wonderful and fries perfection.
