Restaurants near War Hill Monument

Food was great. My salad with steak added was perfect, and large! Waitress Amanda and bar staff super. Drinks were fantastic. “Hands up” was delicious. I’d be back for that alone. When we arrived for our 7:15 reservation we were told it would be 35 min. When asked what the point of a reservation was I was met with “I don’t know I just work here”. I understand if things get backed up or if tables squat a little causing a delay, but that was not the response I was expecting.

My wife and I ENJOYED our annual Christmas dinner at "The Chop House! Our waitress, Sydney, was GREAT! She was excellent at multi-tasking, friendly, and knowledgeable. Our calamari/shrimp appetizer was piping hot and tasty. My wife LOVED her Pomegranate Martini, and my draft Miller Lite was ice cold. My Filet and my wife's Prime Rib were tender, seasoned, and delicious! This restaurant is a TREASURE!!

My fiancé and I went to dinner at Osterio Olio to celebrate our engagement. When we were sat at our table we were promptly congratulated, given celebratory champagne, and welcomed with warmth and genuine care! We were treated to two complimentary appetizers along with a complimentary side dish, all of which were delicious! The manager stopped to speak with us several times, congratulating us and checking on our experience the entire time we were there. The food was outstanding-every appetizer, our pizza, and pasta. There was not a bite we took that didn't impress us. More impressive though, is that a restaurant could make us feel so celebrated, special, and like the most important people in the room. By far our favorite place in Athens to celebrate.

Excellent Detroit style pizza (my first experience with this variant}. Vibrant but not noisy atmosphere. Highly recommended.

We are VERY sad tho hear that the new landlords have informed Cafe on Lumpkin that they can no longer remain in their current space. This is very disheartening. I really hope they are able to continue in a different location, and I hope the new owner of the building understands how disappointed the Athens community feels about the closure of Cafe on Lumpkin.
