In 1962, Johnny Harlowe made the jump from the silver screen to chef and owner of Dear John’s. Convinced by his pal Frank Sinatra, Johnny opened the iconic spot just a ways down from Sony Studios on Culver Blvd. It became the watering-hole for the Hollywood elite with Sinatra often in the corner playing the piano against the dark brick walls once lined with portraits of famous John’s.     The food was great! We had Bougie Tots, Caesar salad (tossed at the table old school), Veal Chop (best we've ever had), Porterhouse, Sand Dabs, Shrimp Scampi, Scalloped Potatoes, Broccolini. We should have ordered the beef that had more marbling. Ours was just a little tough. The room is great. I w as expecting more noise. It was loud but the table was small & so we're all close & could hear each other just fine. It is really dark - but it's terrific atmosphere. We did use cell phones to read the menus. Our waiter Angel was the best.

    Thanksgiving lunch was excellent. The turkey was a bit salty but everything was delicious. The service was excellent. The drinks were great also. I wound definitely dine here again

    It’s my second time at Sol Mexican Cocina. It’s become my favorite stop on the way down to San Diego and Orange County. I’ve had the privilege of having Emmily as our server each time who’s made our experience exceptional. Love the location, ambiance, music, and definitely the food!

    Our waiter was the best. Excellent customer service. The food was good as well except the rice was under cooked. We had out of town guests and the enjoyed themselves.
