L’incontro is an Italian word that means, “The Meeting Place.”

Located in Lake Wales, the heart of central Florida, is L’incontro Restaurant, “A Place Where People Gather to Enjoy Classic Italian Food.”

Our family’s interest in Italian cuisine began in the 1960s when my uncle immigrated to the United States. He worked hard to bring other family members to the States to live the American dream. Now, our family includes about 160 people, mostly living in New York and Florida. Four of my uncles are now Italian cuisine chefs or own their own restaurants. Through the years they have cooked for many famous people. Oprah Winfrey, the President of France, and other well-known celebrities have enjoyed their old world-style dishes that showcase the variety and distinct characteristics of Italy’s regional cuisines.

We’ve eaten here multiple times and consider this our celebratory place. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. We waited almost 15 minutes before anyone came to acknowledge us. As it turned out, the gentleman (Abe) who seated us was our server. He took our drink & appetizer order and we received both with little wait. Then we noticed people who were seated after us received their meals while we still waited for ours. After almost an hour from ordering we finally received our main meal. I had to ask the busboy clearing tables to get our server(Abe). When I asked if there was a reason why our order took so long, he blamed the kitchen. I think he forgot to put our order in but he took no responsibility for the delay. If he had checked on us at all, he would have noticed we never got our meal. So disappointed in tonight’s service. I think we’ll have to find a new celebration place. 😞

We have eaten here several times in the past. This was the worst experience at this restaurant. We had reservations and were seated quickly. The appetizer came out after the dinner. The veal was brought out and we had to wait for the spaghetti to be brought out. Also the portion of spaghetti with meat sauce(which we were charged $5 for the meat sauce) was very small. Overall this was not a pleasant experience and were certainly disappointed.

It was perfect. The food never disappoints and the service is exceptional. We always look forward to celebrating special occasions here.

Excellent as usual!! Absolutely love L'Incontro, best Italian restaurant! Great food, always fresh. Creme Brulee is superb! Fine Wine to complement your meal.

Even with a reservation, we waited quite a few minutes to get seated. But once seated we were treated very nicely by a young man who brought us water. Our waitress Mia was very gracious, told us the specials and didn’t rush us to order. L’incontro food was delicious and ample. The pasta sauce on the veal parm rivals my own (being of Italian descent). Since this was our anniversary celebration, we were given a cannoli (took it to go) but the best part was the limoncello cake for dessert. A nice restaurant for special occasions but too noisy (at least that night) for a romantic dinner.

I’ve dined here for over ten years, there is always something that just disappoints me. The food is always excellent, that’s why I go back, but just the way they treat you . It’s always different, but never warm and inviting.
