Just what you want from an expensive steak house. Food was terrific. Service attentive & friendly but not pushy. Costly, but you know that going in so you should be well-satisfied when it's time to leave. We were! One point for improvement: pay attention to your older customers and keep the walk to their table short. I was there with my 88-yo father. It was plainly visible to the front desk staff that he relied on a cane to walk. The hostess rushed all the way across this large restaurant to seat us. I had to stop halfway through the hike to make sure Dad knew where we were and then had to go search for our hostess to find our table. Dad wouldn't complain, but I thought it was bad form.

Right in the heart of town, Luigi's is one of the most fun restaurants in College Station. On pleasant nights, grab a table in the outdoor courtyard space for delicious dining under the stars. The menu is classic Italian. Start with char-broiled marinated portabella or fried calamari with Napoli sauce. Pizzas include the "con Gamberetti," with seared shrimp, sun-dried tomatoes, and red pepper flakes. Try the "Parmigiana di Melanzane." It features layers of parmesan-seared eggplant with mozzarella and capellini pasta.

Great food and service in a cute place that looks like you are in Italy. Surprised to have live entertainment on a cold rainy Tuesday night was an added bonus! Highly recommend. We also felt that their pricing was very reasonable.

About the restaurant
Head into The Republic for the traditional tastes and style of a hearty Texas steakhouse. The menu emphasizes three elements - steak, wine, and whiskey. Those are the foundations of one of the most fun restaurants in College Station. Grab one of the prime New York strips or bone-in cowboy ribeyes, or try the Texas Akaushi New York strip meal. Pair those with a glass from the large whiskey selection and steak fries with bourbon and coke ketchup. For an authentic Southern taste, try the Creole shrimp and grits with sauteed andouille and bacon.
