Located at the heart of Hanover Street, Lucia Ristorante is an institution in Boston's North End. Opened in 1977, Lucia was the first restaurant to bring authentic Italian cuisine to Boston's oldest neighborhood. We continue to combine traditional Italian favorites with innovative new dishes in our distinctive atmosphere. Ample summertime patio seating is available in the newly bricked courtyard of our neighbor, St. Stephen's Church.

Read about Lucia in Best of Boston. This place is a food factory. We had a reservation, but it was difficult to get the front door as the hostess stands in the entry way and is surrounded by others waiting for a table. Place is packed with students. Once we were seated and ordered, appetizers came out within five minutes. As we started eating our appetizers, the entrees came out. Not only was there not enough room on the table, but we could not enjoy anything. We were seated, ordered, ate in 45 minutes. And the food was just ok. When I went to get my car from valet, he was no where to be found. Finally the hostess agreed to call him. Never going back and WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

everything was too rushed. from the waitress coming to order drinks when we hadn't looked through the menu. I ordered a soup and It was Luke warm, then another person delivered the full meal too soon (so I wasn't even 1/2 way done w/ the soup); the chicken and pasta dish was edible, but no seasoning and the pasta was cool ( the chicken was hot). overall, not a relaxing , enjoyable meal.

This restaurant was average, at best. Atmosphere was great, but service could have been more warm and attentive. Carbonara was lacking creaminess & flavor. Pappardelle bolognese was fine, but not much better than what I could make myself at home with boxed pasta and a jar of sauce. A little overpriced for the quality of food received. Overall, would not be likely to return. There are certainly better Italian restaurants in the North End.

During the night, we got the carrozza as an app which was pretty good but portions of the fried outer layer definitely felt a bit stale and chewy. The red wine we got and espresso martini were great, but $17 for their espresso martini feels bit overpriced for the quality. For entrees, we got the chicken parm and pasta a la vodka with chicken cutlet. Some portions of the large chicken cutlet with the parm were a bit chewy or tough, but mostly was quite good. The pasta and sauce were fine. The vodka sauce was tasty but definitely a little thin. The chicken cutlets were great. The service was great throughout and the lighting could use some work. Overall, you get what you pay for and the service was great throughout the night. In the north end specifically, it can be a bit underwhelming when compared to their neighbor, Nico.

Not the most engaging waitstaff, especially at the front of the house. Disappointed that the food was not better. Though it came out quickly, before finishing salad, it was not very hot.

Three apathetic hostesses barely acknowledged us at the entry, then, no one approached our table for at least fifteen minutes. Our waiter was nice, but hovered over our glasses, announcing their contents and spitting while doing so. The food was...just so sad. Maybe we ordered wrong, but man. My daughter's caprese salad came with three slices of the most anemic tomatoes, three slumping black olives (?!?) and a dry hunk of what no self respecting Italian would call burrata (though that's what the menu called it). My daughter's review is: "Well...I mean my mom's salmon, I think it was worse than mine ... And the asparagus It was just horrible..." Thanks for that segue. My salmon died another tragic death on my plate...hammered. absolutely pummelled. My husband's lasagna was just ok. He ate it because he was hungry, but that's not a ringing endorsement from a man who doesn't know the difference between a cashew and a walnut. They took the salmon off the bill, which was good of them, but we felt bamboozled when the check for $100 arrived. A special night out in the North End, this was not. Hey Open Table, it's time to recalibrate your algorithm. Stop sending people to this middling restaurant.
