An unusual place that is historic and fun to go to. All out Hogwarts vibe. Rich wood etc. Chef is a CIA grad and his food reflects it. Everything seasoned properly and seasoned well with salt and butter. We had prix fix dinner which included a tasty and simpleamuse bouche, which was really an hors dourve. Appetizer course was perfectly cooked scallops and buretta. Salad course was the only thing that didn't live up to the rest of the meal. Two leaves of lettuce with cubed beets and a light citrus dressing. Entree was sea bass for us. Again everything was prepared meticulously with rich flavors. Lastly dessert was a classic creme brûlée and a deep dark chocolate cake. A real treat. We will definitely visit again.

Rich in history and outstanding location for those visiting West Point and the surrounding national and state historical sites. However, we found the food (breakfast and dinner) to be of average quality and high price. Last minute, restaurant driven change from menu ordering to a buffet, was not appreciated.

We had a lovely lunch at the Thayer. The fried chicken was expertly seasoned and the best I've had. Crunchy where it should be and juicy and tender inside. The Cole slaw was just right. Great snap to the fries. The other dish was the Chicken Salad club. Hit every mark and totally enjoyed it. We also ordered the soup of the day and the only mishap was it was brought out not piping hot. A quick word to the waiter and the soup was retuned and the temperature was corrected. In fairness, most restaurants never serve piping hot soup, which they should. We had a view of the Hudson and the ambiance of the hotel and restaurant is old world elegance. The price was very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. We will definitely go back. It would be a fabulous place to watch the autumn colors. Next time.

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner last Saturday while visiting West Point. Upon being seated at our table, we received a warm and friendly welcome from our server, Monica, who was very helpful with answering our questions about the menu. Everything we ordered was prepared with great care and presented beautifully. The prime rib was seasoned perfectly and cooked exactly as ordered. Another favorite was the cowboy pork chop - so flavorful and moist. We really enjoyed the kale and bacon biscuits, and the butternut squash ravioli were served in a tasty cream sauce. Service was attentive without being intrusive, and we never felt rushed. We enjoy dining here every time we visit West Point. Highly recommend.

I was not thrilled with the service. We never got offered rolls. The food sat on the side covered for at least five minutes before making it to our table. There were only five other tables with customers so they weren't busy.

There was only an option for a buffet. The food was okay but more like cafeteria food. The meat at the carving station was tough and cold. The serving staff was aloof and did not show attention to detail. Service was slow, and all they were responsible for was serving drinks as the buffet was self-service. It came to $194 and change before tip for 3 adults. I was shocked at the pricing. It definitely did not match the offerings. There were shrimp and crab offered, so I can see that could increase the price, but if you're not eating that and you also can't order an entree from a menu the price per person for a lackluster meal was a surprise. There were also kids running around and being loud. I thought there would be a different level of decorum at the Thayer Hotel. As we walked out, we saw a full house at Patton's, and we all said we should've gone there and probably could've enjoyed a nice burger for a much better price.

Very good experience especially interacting with student servers. Food was very good but the veal dish and the duck dish, while portion size was perfect, the protein was carved too thick to fully enjoy.
