Maison Carlos is a continental restaurant with an emphasis on French and Italian cuisine. Carlos and Lanie Farias opened Maison Carlos in December of 2002. After seven years on Clematis Street in downtown West Palm Beach, the couple made the decision to move their establishment a couple miles south to the El Cid neighborhood. They wanted a smaller restaurant with more of a neighborhood vibe. The new space has only eleven tables and is open for dinner only. Carlos is there every night, seating people, taking orders and is very hands on. Being open only for dinner Carlos spends his days shopping for the restaurant, selecting only the freshest ingredients.

The place is very pretty and relaxing feeling but thanks the end of the good path of it. The food is overpriced. The quality of the food is below average. The chefs do not know how to cook anything. Pasta is soft and overcooked. Pork is dried out and leathery. The chicken is like shoe leather beef jerky. The meat has zero flavor or seasoning. The servers see decently nice but don’t check in on you white you eat. The tomato’s are not ripe and when questioned on it they don’t care and said yes we know. When we told them than all the food is dried out and overcooked they david they know but offered morning to make it better. Won’t be going back.

We wanted a special anniversary dinner. A special place for us for the last 8 years has been at Maison Carlos . We made a reservation thru Open Table and stated that it was our anniversary and we requested a window table. When we walked into the restaurant, the manager/owner recognized our name but no acknowledgement about our special occasion and proceeded to seat us at undesirable table in the corner. He said all the other tables were booked.... Funny... we reserved a table too!!! Spoiled the evening even though the food was good. We will not return..

We had mixed results on a crowded night. Salads and Onion Soups got mixed reviews, the baked Goat Cheese and Cherry Tomatoes was delivered in a crock with a group of Italian bread crisps. The Lemon juice was overwhelming and made the dish hard to get through. The main dishes all seemed well received of duck breast, pork loin, Pasta Bolognese. Nothing was a wow. We noticed dessert souffles being served and when we inquired, we were told they had one left but could make us two. However when they were served the tops were charred and the bottom tasted of the burn. The waiter apologized to us several times. Disappointed the six of us paid the check and left.

This is a neighborhood gem. We decided to try this place after finding it online. The food and service are excellent and we will definitely come back.
