Took a very long time for food to arrive even though there the restaurant was not full. My entree of fish was lukewarm but my husbands lasagna was piping hot…food was under seasoned but good. Service was good- but again it was a long wait for everything.

Great choice for a dinner at Mateo‘s. Open table had our reservation confirmed with the front host. Upon seating on the patio area, which we requested, was met with a great server with knowledge of the menu and specials. Food was fabulous. Portions were nice and staff was very hospitable. Can’t wait to come back again

Last week we celebrated our 50th anniversary with a few friends at Matteo’s, our favorite restaurant on Maui. As always, every component of the meal was prepared perfectly. The menu is unique, balanced, and accommodating to individual needs. But what makes Matteo’s so special is the people. This is a 5-star restaurant in which so many people, including us, feel welcome and connected in a warm and wonderful way. Much gratitude to Kiana and Michelle for making sure we had a special celebration. We are locals now, but having traveled the world enjoying outstanding food everywhere, Matteo’s consistently provides that “wow” every time.

I had high hopes for Matteo’s Osteria, but unfortunately, our experience was incredibly underwhelming. My husband and I dined here for our anniversary, which I noted in our reservation, yet the restaurant made no effort to make our evening special. From the moment we sat down, the service felt unwelcoming. We asked to split a salad, only to be told there was an upcharge just to have it served on two plates—something I’ve never encountered at a restaurant of this caliber. The food itself was mediocre at best, certainly not worth the price. The bread they served was stale, which set the tone for the rest of the meal. Overall, the atmosphere was cold, the food forgettable, and the service disappointing. This was not the kind of experience we wanted for a special occasion, and we will not be returning or recommending it to anyone. If you’re looking for a place to celebrate a meaningful moment, I’d suggest going elsewhere.

What a pleasant surprise to find a great Italian Osteria in Wailea. The entire staff was friendly and provided outstanding service throughout the evening. The food reminded me of my last trip to Tuscany. The lasagna was out of this world! Compliments to Michael, our server, host, and sommelier. Highly recommend Matteo’s for an exceptional dining experience!

Our server, Keana was phenomenal! She was incredibly genuine, kind, patient and just overall, lovely. The food was fantastic as well. Everything we ordered was on point. I especially enjoyed the fish special and the bolognese but the short rib and the chicken Parmesan were great too. The entire experience was a really memorable one. We will be back!

Excellent restaurant with favorable dishes. The staff was so attentive and welcoming. Highly recommend. One of the few Maui restaurants very flexible of gluten and allergies, shocked how non-accommodating much of the other restaurants are.

We had a very nice time at Matteo’s- we would go back. My special tasted good but the presentation of pasta ribbons coiled in a tight cylinder made it hard to eat.
