A little history on our namesake:
The Linwood Hotel: John B. Pullis established the Linwood Hotel in about 1888. Located on the Southeast corner of South Clinton Avenue and Linden Place, the Linwood Hotel temporarily housed WW1 Navy flyers from the Bay Shore Aero Station while their barracks were being constructed. The Linwood was destroyed by fire on October 11, 1925.

   We will do our best to accommodate your requests, but we cannot guarantee where you will be seated. Additionally, reservations are unavailable for dockside dining, as outdoor tables are first come first serve.
   Whalers is modern and fresh with a nod to what it’s like growing up on the Great South Bay. Located right in the middle of the action down on Maple Ave, we are looking forward to getting customers who live locally, but also those who are heading over to Fire Island.

Offrant une vue imprenable sur les environs, avec plus de 100 confortables places assises, 2 salons, une terrasse dominant la lagune de Great South Bay et un jardin avec foyer ouvert, le Lakehouse est considéré comme le « l'un de meilleurs restaurants de Long Island ». La terrasse est éclairée le soir, tout comme le salon qui fait face au lac où vous pourrez vous détendre après le soupé autour d'un cocktail. Owners Gary Butera, Martin &Laurie Butera, Nick Zografos & David Novak have provided cool green & white panels, brick, subway tile, marble and original artwork. The decor adds a sleek industrial edge to compliment the tone in the casual, comfortable dining room & spacious bar. Garage doors bring the “outside” in to add to the open, airy industrial look.
   The Butera’s kitchen, since it’s inception in Massapequa 1991 to present day Bay Shore , has and still does offer traditional rustic Italian cuisine with a modern flair alongside unique specials showcasing authentic ingredients and locally sourced products.
