As the first uptown New York location for legendary chef Nobu Matsuhisa, we opened with much anticipation in the summer of 2005.Nobu's co-owners are his longtime partners: renowned restaurateur Drew Nieporent, Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro, and Hollywood film producer Meir Teper. The restaurant showcases Nobu's signature new style Japanese cuisine with classic dishes such as Tiradito Nobu Style and Black Cod Miso. The restaurant received three stars from the New York Times.

    Right from the start, the experience was off. The hostess greeted us with a cold, dismissive attitude, making it feel like we were an inconvenience just by being there. Checking our coat in felt like a chore for her, and the unwelcoming vibe was reinforced by the occasional rude or judgmental looks from other staff. It was far from the warm, inviting atmosphere you expect when dining at a place with premium prices. The food itself was fine—nothing extraordinary, just average. Our server was the one saving grace of the evening, as they were kind and professional, but that couldn’t make up for how the hostess staff behaved. For the price point, you’d expect excellent service and a pleasant environment, but instead, we left feeling irritated and disappointed. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant, as the overall experience just wasn’t worth the premium price of close to $350 for 2 people. There are better places in Time Square New York City area.

    Spent $1000 that includes tip for 4 people. The portions were small. The food was good not spectacular. The service was not in line with my expectations. And the view from my table was a security desk in the building adjacent to us. Disappointed…. One more thing it was my daughter’s Birthday and her name was spelled wrong on the plate that her dessert was served on, sloppy.

    Never miss an opportunity to dine at Nobu! We have been to many his restaurants including Matsuhisa in Beverly Hills! Outstanding as always!

    My date and I absolutely loved our dining experience. Some of the best sushi you will find in NYC with amazing ambience, it was worth every penny.
