The service was eh. We were seated over 15 minutes late for an 8pm reservation. The food was tasty, but did not meet the value of the price point. I really wanted to like Nostrana after hearing such good things. We are on the search for a new to us pasta experience since Caffe Mingo burned down. Maybe it was on off night, but I think we’ll keep looking.

I visited the Nostrana for the first time yesterday and, while the food was undeniably delicious, I had a hair in my pasta. Shortly after taking my first few bites, the server was chatting with us and in real time I noticed a hair in my pasta and brought it to his attention. They promptly prepared another pasta, which I appreciated. However, given the restaurant’s elevated ambiance and premium pricing, I was surprised that no additional gesture was offered, such as a complimentary dessert or some other acknowledgment of the situation. I ordered a dessert and too my surprise was charged for it. The handful of times I’ve experienced a hair in my food, this type of courtesy even at more casual dining restaurant, so it felt a bit unexpected that nothing was done here… especially considering the automatic 22% gratuity. Despite this, I enjoyed the overall experience, but I couldn’t help but feel that the response didn’t quite match the higher standards the restaurant seems to have.

Nostrana is an (almost) hidden Portland treasure! The space and ambiance is warm yet epic, the entire staff seems to be operating on another level from other fine dining restaurants in Portland; they're engaged, friendly, warm, and yet professional and perfectionistic in the best possible ways. The food, all of it, was super-fresh and really special. Might have something to do with them having their own chef's garden right across the street. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

Food was overpriced and uninspired. Many other options in Portland to spend your money on a nice meal. No slight on the service, but everything else was poor.

We were seated near the bar and it was noisy because of server traffic. And we were cold.

The food is always on point and the wine list has a few gems ! The high-top table are a little bit small for two so make sure you get either a table or the bar sitting. You can't go wrong with the food, it's always good and very consistent (we have been there a couple of times at Enoteca and once at Nostrana) - Don't be afraid to ask the sommelier for a recommendation ! You won't be disappointed the plates are a good size the service is always friendly and on point !!! Definitely a place to go back and we will return soon !
