   We had Sunday lunch and were very well looked after in a pleasant environment. The food was of a high standard and well presented by friendly professional staff. The menu offered good choices at each stage. We had wine by the glass following a cocktail served with spicy popcorn. If there is a criticism, it would be that some dishes were a little under seasoned for out taste, and a little more gravy/sauce would have been welcome with the main courses. My wife felt her main course serving too generous fer her. Overall a very good experience, one we would be happy to repeat and recommend to others.

   Hi Simon, Thanks for the review, all feedback is very important. We always struggle with portion sizes as we like our food x. We are very careful with seasoning nowadays as a lot of guests are conscious on salt etc but never feel you cant ask, we got some pepper and salt mills to hand. We also offer as much gravy as you can drink on a Sunday. The chefs in the kitchen can drink at least half a pint of gravy with their roasts, so we know what you mean. Remember its never a problem for us at Orwells.

   Always a wonderful dining experience. Not the place to go for a quick meal, but perfect when you want to spend time enjoying some exceptional dishes accompanied by well chosen drinks.

   Had lunch here today with my family. I’m afraid not very impressed at all and will not return. Overpriced overrated food. In all very disappointing.

   Well what i can we say? We replied privately to you on email and what we got in response was exactly what we expected. All we have to say is PRETENTIOUS! According to the Oxford & Cambridge dictionary the meaning of pretentious is; trying to give the appearance of great importance, especially in a way that is obvious. Aka all fur coat and no knickers.

   This is the first time we have eaten at Orwells and it definitely won't be our last. As it was for a special anniversary we opted for the Taste the Season (February 2025) menu along with the prestigious matching wine flight for one (as one of us was driving). The staff were attentive but not intrusive - the exceptional food and wine was explained and any questions answered. We never felt hurried neither did we feel we had to wait as we thoroughly enjoyed our food and drink journey between 12.30 and 4. We have eaten in many 1, 2 and 3 Michelin star restaurants over the years and we believe Orwells is comparable with the best. Yes it is a pub, not a sumptuous restaurant, but it has tasteful interior decoration, the tables are reasonably spaced apart and the ambience is perfect - there is background music, but not intrusively so. We look forward to coming again soon.

   Another fantastic meal at Orwells. Varied menu choices and seasonal dishes cooked expertly with brilliant wine menu too. The starters of curried crab risotto was delicious, as was the pork & langoustine followed by the lamb & deer. Desserts were also great - chocolate fondant with Guinness ice cream and the blood orange dessert was light and fresh. Really worth a visit.

   Excellent Sunday roast and all of the little dishes between courses set Orwells apart from other restaurants. Great service and really warm atmosphere made it a great experience overall

    We had such an amazing time. Wonderful food, wine, atmosphere, and with friendly, knowledge and fabulous staff. Thank you. My third time at Orwells and will be back, we loved it! They could have not done more, one of our favourite meals out in a long time!
