They sought to offer the city of Carmel-by-the-Sea a relaxing and comforting venue modeled after a European chateau where tables are thoughtfully spaced and fresh flowers, fireplace, candles and soothing musical notes are integral part of the dining experience. The ambience sets the tone for French country food served with a great deal of care for detail and pastries baked daily on premises.     The food was excellent, homemade fresh pasta and delicious sauces. Would definitely return for the food; however, the noise level was horrible. It’s a small, quaint place with only a few tables inside and we were seated next to a large party (which took up 85% of the dining room) who were loud, rude, and drunk. The food was lovely but our table couldn’t even hear eachother or the waitress. If you go, request to sit outside or your ears will be ringing by the end of your meal!
