The Local Cafe and Restaurant was created to offer experiential learning opportunities for our students. The Local is located on Centennial College, Progress Campus. At The Local, the hospitality, culinary and baking students learn in the restaurant as part of their embedded courses as well as their field placement's under the direction of our Faculty, Chef and Restaurant Technicians. Our menus are inspired by the flavour profiles that represent the incredibly rich diversity of those who call Scarborough home. Michelin-recommended since 2022.We first imagined Aloette to be the perfect diner that we’d want to dine in – a menu with a great burger paired with a fantastic and fun wine list, a long row of bar stools facing the bar and the kitchen, and an energetic atmosphere accented with an old school hip hop playlist. The buzz of the dining room mirrors the energy of the street on Spadina Avenue; the dining room itself mimics a train’s dining car.     We went to the Red lobster to celebrate my birthday. The general manager was going table to table to ensure everyone was served and happy. She had a lovely personality. The food was delicious, the waiter was kind. Our time together was perfect at a perfect size booth. The restaurant treated me with an ice cream sundae finale to finish off our perfect meal together. It was a great time. Thank you

    Fantastic experience! The students here are very talented and show such professionalism that I'd argue that this is the best restaurant in all of Toronto! The menu was superb and the chefs are very skilled at making everything taste delicious. The servers were very kind, informative and attentive. Well done! Hope to see you sometime soon

    Food and ambiance are always great at Alobar. The service is fantastic. There seems to be a bit confusion with reservation in the beginning but is just a small hiccup. Overall experience is very pleasant

    Aloette made for the perfect date night! The service was exceptional—attentive and friendly. The food was outstanding, from the melt-in-your-mouth lamb skewer to the delicious Aloette burger with Beaufort cheese. The sides—we grabbed the tots and crispy butternut squash—were incredible. The ambiance, paired with great music, set a relaxed yet lively mood. We finished with the perfect slice of carrot cake. Everything was top-notch, and we can't wait to come back!
