At Babette, the husband and wife team of Joan Ellis and Patrick Hooker, are in the kitchen preparing each plate to ensure that their vision and taste profile are translated to each diner. I went here for an intimate birthday dinner and was blown away. It was the perfect environment for the occasion, and I would definitely go back. We ditched our dinner plans the next night to eat leftovers!

We had a wonderful birthday celebration here--the food, including the housemade pasta, pizza and antipasti, was delicious, the waiter was warm, attentive and helpful and the atmosphere was relaxed and cozy. We already know that we will be returning many times in the future--by far the best Italian meal we've enjoyed in Berkeley.

This was a special occasion. My sister loves Ajanta, is from out of town and hadn’t visited in a while. We were welcomed graciously, given a table by the window and then served a wonderful meal. Truly memorable. Well done Ajanta.

food was great, and the view and ambience are unbeatable, and our server was very nice, but the service was extremely slow but I will go back again because they've just reopened under new management and they have a good menu as well.
