We specialize in Aburi, or flamed-seared sushi, which was developed nearly a century ago in Japan. The act of applying fire directly and lightly sear is known to enhance the natural flavors of the fish. Miku owner, Seigo Nakamura, innovated the Aburi concept by creating speciality sauces, using non-traditional Japanese ingredients, to complement the unique taste properties of each fish. Miku Restaurant is within walking distance from the Pan Pacific Hotel, Canada Place, Trade & Exhibition Centre, IMAX Theatre, Cruise Ship Terminals and Sea Bus. If shopping downtown, join us for lunch and re-energize. It's entrance is at the corner of Howe Street and Canada Place Way, overlooking the east cruiseship terminal at Canada Place. **We only will hold reservations up to an additional 15 minutes after your reservation time, at which time your table will be released.

Located in the vibrant neighborhood of Yaletown, Minami Restaurant delivers one of the most unique and innovative dining experiences to Vancouver. Minami follows the pioneering footsteps of sister restaurant, Miku for introducing the Aburi style or flame seared technique to Vancouver’s thriving sushi scene in 2008. Aburi sushi requires no soy sauce or wasabi, as the chefs create specialty sauces using non-traditional Japanese ingredients to complement the flavor properties of each variety of fish. From the kitchen, seasonal and regional ingredients are integrated into dishes to reflect the diversity of responsible food choices. Traditionally trained Japanese chefs are inspired by global flavors and cutting edge techniques to create a new style of cuisine. There will also be a big focus on local BC-grown ingredients. The 2,946 square foot, 76-seat space was designed by Vancouver-based Marko Simcich Architect and features three dining spaces and an open window into the kitchen to see the chefs at work.
