Take a seat at our signature French-inspired bistro, Couvant, housed in the former Peychaud Cocktail Bitters factory. Here, French techniques (think pain perdu for breakfast and cochon de lait for dinner) play on the roots of New Orleans cuisine using fresh, local ingredients. New Orleans is renowned for its French cuisine, and you won’t have to leave the confines of The Eliza Jane to enjoy delicious fare within a French bistro. Couvant specializes in classic French cooking serving entrees that pay homage to French history and regional specialties. Never pretentious, the dishes and service at Couvant are purposefully simple and social. Nestle into an intimate dining room banquette. Or dine at a bistro table in our historic courtyard for chef-driven entrées and a bottle of wine — or maybe two.

We really enjoyed the food and wonderful presentation of our meal. We also liked our server Angelo - he was bustling around and was as attentive as he could be. It was busier than we expected for a Monday night, which made for a great ambience. Shrimp and grits had a welcome gourmet flare to a classic New Orleans dish, steak tartare appetizer was a huge portion, and onion soup was delicious (but could have been a little hotter). Bartender was busy and we ended up getting our appetizers before the cocktail, but we were overall really pleased. Fun, beautiful decor. Hope to dine again next time we are in New Orleans!

Darla and Daniel were incredible waiters. Knowledgeable, great interaction. Food was perfect! Fried oysters with tasso gravy reduction was bomb. For those who don't know, tasso is Cajun smoked pork legs with extremely deep smoke. Then duck confit, thigh and drumb. Finished with peppermint ice cream and glacee drizzled with chocolate.

We’re traveling for a conference and saw this place was nearby - did not disappoint. The escargot was so good. Absolutely loved my Louisiana Cioppino and the bread pudding flavors and texture was spot on. Would definitely recommend.
