We invite our community to participate in a time-honored tradition. Experience food as a daily pursuit, a connection to ingredients as they were meant to be.Pa’La is food with a sense of history, cooking in a way that is inherently approachable and human. The kitchen at Pa’La centers around a hand-built wood-burning oven and a Japanese Robata grill. In our cooking we use fire, smoke, coals, and embers to create dishes that reflect the seafood, grains, and vegetable-driven coastal cultures of the Mediterranean, Japan and South America. We are committed to strong relationships with a few select organic farmers and artisans practicing responsible agriculture and production.Because we source ingredients at their peak, our menu is continually changing. Each day we cook dishes determined by the best materials available.
HOW IT STARTEDFour brothers and 30 years ago- a small Italian restaurant was born in Tempe, serving beef subs, Grandpa Cesare's sausage recipe, Grandma Cleone's spaghetti sauce, cheesecake, and our original deep dish pizza. Our little Nello's grew into an award winning "Best of Phoenix" restaurant year after year, after year... after year. Family recipes, family genius and family drama all keep Nello's going 30 years later to new generations of pasta and pizza connoisseurs.A FEW THINGS THAT MAKE NELLO’S AHWATUKEE UNIQUE:We are the only Nello’s location to use a wood fire oven, which was imported from Italy. Our pasta is made in-house daily. We stretch our own mozzarella. Some of our meats are smoked and cured in-house.All desserts are made from scratch in-house. We support local Arizona farms by purchasing their seasonal produce whenever possible.
Pa’La means “for-the…” and it is forged in a passion to deliver food and wine that is inherently approachable and human to our community of people. Drawing from coastal cultures of the Mediterranean and South America, ingredients are sourced locally with wild caught seafood, organic grains, and vegetables. We created a wine program that complements the seasonality of our menu.Focusing on organic, sustainably farmed, and high-quality products; curating a list of 300 labels, most accessible to all, and representing 15 countries, from the coastal Mediterranean, Europe, to the American continent. Our draft beers are exclusively selected from local hand crafted breweries. It is Pa’ La’s commitment to bring a unique and unforgettable experience to the people of Phoenix and beyond.
