HopCat returned to Royal Oak in 2023 at the corner of Main and 4th Street. The expansive space features multiple sidewalk patios and a massive wrap-around bar. We’re just down the street from the Royal Oak Theatre, Oakland Community College, Stagecrafters Baldwin Theatre, and the Royal Oak train station. HopCat was founded on the principles of bringing local craft beer a bit closer to the communities we love. We’re known for our award-wining Cosmik fries, which are beer battered, sprinkled with our signature cracked black pepper seasoning, and served with a side of warm cheese sauce. Opened on December 13, 2014 (yes, 12/13/14!) in a historic building at the corner of Woodward and Canfield.     We made reservations for 6:30 and were seated on time even though they were very busy. Mitch’s pita bread and dip was fantastic! We both ordered fish & chips and the food came out promptly and was outstanding! The wait staff wasgreat-came by to refill our water twice without having to ask. The food seems reasonably priced and we will be back to try their interesting menu (need to get back on a “meat” day during lent).

    We came for a Valentine's brunch and had a great time. The strawberry basil margarita pitchers are amazing and the new brunch menu slaps! Our waiter Sam was attentive and very kind. We will be back!

    This was such a wonderful experience for Valentines Day. The food was good and the atmosphere was full of love with people celebrating anniversary and the love of the crave. We will be back next year.
