Vatutto is a family run restaurant, Owners Paul and Myrto Recinella moved from their 16 year Institution at Zios East Melbourne to the Ivanhoe location in 2015. A full renovation was completed recently creating a modern yetelegant atmosphere. Vatutto translates from Italian to ‘Everything goes’ the menu here has a diverse flavour selection from all corners of the earth. Produce here is sourced from premium suppliers, and we use sustainable seafood from Australian or New Zealand waters, Wagyu beef from Gippsland, organic eggs, fruit and vegetables, and quality imported cheese, dairy products and flour. Bread is baked daily and all desserts, pastries and ice cream are all made on the premises using quality ingredients.

We are beyond proud to be bringing Indigenous food and culture back to the banks of Birrarung (Yarra). This River was once an eel breeding ground; where shark, dolphin and stingrays could be found. Our experience at Freyja was exceptional! From the warm and inviting ambiance to the impeccable service and exquisite cuisine, every detail exceeded our expectations! The flavors were both unique and surprising, an unexpected combination that created an explosion of taste in every bite. Our waiter was not only attentive and knowledgeable but also took the time to explain each dish thoroughly. The food arrived seamlessly, and the wine pairing was spot-on, complementing each course. Overall, I highly recommend Freyja and can’t wait to return!

The vegetarian selection is still utterly rubbish. Why can’t there be one dish that’s actually not terrible or weird combinations. Also the slaw was pure mustard - the schnitzel was super crispy though

I tried the Caesar Salad, not that good, effectively this was lettuce and croutons with mayonnaise.

It was raining the day f our booking and while there were plenty of seats available we were seated in the “outdoor” or “undercover” area and rain was coming through
