A sherwal is a traditional, multi-layered baggy men’s trousers worn in various areas of the Mediterranean. Centuries old, it is a rare sight nowadays, except in remote villages and at traditional cultural ceremonies and, well, at our restaurant. Why name our restaurant after an archaic pants? Because, somehow, this pair of comfortable pants has found its way into our modern world, with little tweaks here and there taking the form of harem pants or baggy jeans, fusing the old with the new. And this is what we want to do. We want to take old culinary masterpieces from the Mediterranean and fuse them together, with new flavours here and there, adding new colours and new tastes to the table.

    This restaurant is amazing. The space is beautiful and the rooftop great for families and overseas guests. I have dined here many times and I am never disappointed. Do not miss the cabbage or the fattoush salad and the shish Tawook. Run to this one! Don’t dawdle! Can’t wait to dine there again.

    Great Experience, but Some Room for Improvement Dear Gorges Restarant-Sydney Team, I just wanted to share my experience dining at your restaurant. The food was absolutely fantastic, and I was impressed by the cleanliness of the bathrooms—truly outstanding! The service was also wonderful, especially from Elizabeth, who was attentive, friendly, and made us feel very welcome. However, I did notice that Michael, the manager, seemed a bit distant. He didn’t come by our table to check on us or offer a warm welcome, even though the restaurant wasn’t too busy. A small gesture like that would have made our experience even better. Overall, we had a great time, and I appreciate the effort your team puts into creating a pleasant dining experience. Thank you, and I look forward to visiting again soon! Best regards,

    Lunch was excellent. We chose the small plates ,pumpkin tart, followed by a delicious dessert of upside pineapple tart. Absolutely first rate. The waitress was most obliging and we felt very special as it was our 49th wedding anniversary! Congratulations was written our our dessert plate! We will be going back!!!

    From the time we entered the staff were so lovely and helpful, explained the menu, gave us ample time to decide. Food was super fresh and absolutely beautiful. We had never tried anything on the menu before and were surprised at how delicious everything was. The raw fish was a super surprise, I didn't expect to like it but it was almost my favourite... Just behind the chocolate mousse! So good and would highly recommend!!

    This was our 2nd dining experience at Jounieh. This restaurant has a great variety of delicious and authentic middle eastern cuisine - our party of 3 shared the dishes we ordered and they were very generously portioned Food highlights - Caramelised Haloumi, Chicken Skewers and Fatoush. The restaurant atmosphere was relaxing and not rushed plus the service was friendly and prompt. Thanks to Tony and all the staff for very lovely evening.
