As soon as Amy Chanta flung open the doors in 1989 Chat Thai became an instant smash hit with Sydney diners already familiar with Thailand and no appetite for compromising on ingredients, flavours, textures and aromas. Searching all across Sydney for the correct vegetables, herbs and sauces Amy was able to set herself apart through a stubborn dedication to reminding diners of their unforgettable food experiences on the streets of Bangkok.Three decades later we are proud to continue Amy’s vision by adding organic vegetables from Boon Luck Farm to serve up authentic Thai dishes we ourselves want to eat. Unique flavours the Thai diaspora crave from the motherland but struggle to find outside of their own home cooking.

Chat Thai became an instant smash hit in 1989 when it opened its first restaurant with plenty of heat and authentic Thai dishes. We've since added restaurants in Circular Quay, Westfield Sydney, Neutral Bay, Chatswood and Galeries Victoria, and in 2015 we added organic, fresh produce from our farm in Byron Bay.     Betel Leaf is one of the most consistently outstanding restaurants in Sydney and we have had the pleasure of dining there on several occasions. The banquet menus are excellent in variety and volume of food and the service is unobtrusive but attentive. We were hosting guests from overseas and they enjoyed everything about the experience. Thanks to Gabrielle and Gabriel and of course the team in the kitchen.

    I honestly loved each dish - my new favourite Thai restaurant! The fresh veggies in each dish were distinctive, eg stalk of fresh green peppercorns - something I’ve never tasted before. Must be from their own farm…?

    Thai food with a twist. Great food that was a little different. We were well looked after by the staff and the service was efficient. The Lara was amazing and the green chicken curry was the best I’ve ever tasted. Thank you. We’ll be back.
