The Duke of Cleveland is situated on the Headland in Hartlepool, just a short distance from the coast and next to St Hilda's Church. It is a listed building and the oldest one still in use in the town. Our establishment is a restaurant and pub with an excellent reputation for serving traditional homemade British dishes. We take pride in sourcing produce from local businesses as much as possible and use these ingredients to create the best dishes for our patrons. Our signature dishes include Haddock in our special beer batter with hand-cut chips and the local speciality, the chicken parmesan. We believe in keeping things simple and making them well. On Sundays, we offer a traditional roast dinner with a choice of Roast Rib of Beef, Loin of Pork, Breast of Chicken or Lamb Shank.The Duke of Cleveland is the ideal venue for weddings and other special occasions or events. It has a choice of function rooms suited to your requirements. In the summer months, we open our cosy bear garden.

Sitting on the banks of the River Tees, the Blue Bell commands an enviable position overlooking the river and has done so since the early 1700s. A varied selection of draught and bottled beers, lagers and ciders are always available and we stock, probably, the biggest selection of wines available in any pub in the area. Added to the soft drink selection there is something for everyone’s taste. The food menu is acknowledged as the jewel in the crown and only fresh produce, supplied by local suppliers, is used. The choice is huge and ranges from steaks, mixed grills and sauce dishes.

Gorgeous carvery. Lovely tender Beef and Turkey. All the veg was cooked to my liking. Could not fault the food. Will be back!

Staff were lovely and helpful. Place is fantastic for pre drinking before a night out or hanging around with mates. In my opinion, a bit too noisy for a date on the weekends. Vibe was amazing and the staff went above and beyond. Food is amazing but the drinks are a bit on the pricey side. Would recommend 10/10
