Best Japanese Restaurants in South Elgin

My girlfriend and I had reservations at 6pm and we got there on time and were told there was still a 25 minute wait. Aside from that and not being served for 20 minutes after being seated, it was a delightful meal and a very nice waitress. She made great recommendations as it was our first time trying sake and dining at this restaurant!

Have always wanted to go to Benihana. I lived in Japan for 6 years so am a fan of tepanyaki. My husband and I chose seating in the bar area since it was just the two of us. We were seated in a quiet, intimate area next to windows overlooking the snow covered Japanese garden. Beautiful view despite the urban setting! We selected meals from the specialties section of the menu - excellent value for what you get: grilled filet mignon, veggies, shrimp, lobster with soup, salad, green tea and sherbet! The food was fantastic! Grilled to perfection with ginger and garlic sauce and a mustard sauce for added umami. Delicious! You don’t have to be seated at the communal grill with a view of the chef for an excellent meal. Can’t wait to go back!!

Our first time here and it was such a great experience! So many good options on the item we had a hard time choosing but we’ll definitely be back to try them all!

Nice place, the waiter was amazing and every employee greeted my whole party. A little pricey but the food was amazing! Will go again
