Situated in the historic village of Aylesford, The Hengist is a modern restaurant and bar, a short walk from the river's edge.The 16th Century building stands with original features, offering a perfect balance of elegance, heritage and modernity all surrounded by manicured gardens. The Hengist offers a range of dining options including a casual dining option on the ground floor and two more formal dining rooms upstairs along with outside terrace dining in our gardens. Open Tuesday to Sunday with food served all day from noon.We now have 3 Giant heated Tipis, they provide lots of fresh air and a lovely open environment, they are also heated.Formerly an 18th Century farmhouse boasting exposed beams, oak floors, exposed brickwork and oak tables. This leads to a very relaxed and cosy atmosphere with candle lit tables and real flame stoves.The cuisine is typically modern European, classically cooked using cornerstones such as stock pots to create their sauces with a brigade that has a passion for what they do. We’ve eaten at The Angel, Addington for years. It’s always been a great place for food, great beer and choice of wine. The staff are always friendly and helpful. It’s kept very well, clean and well decorated. Just the best out on the terrace on a sunny day or warm summer evening.

Delicious set menu lunch served by attentive friendly staff. Perfect place to spend a couple of hours on a wet Saturday afternoon!

Hadn't been there for many years and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was great, hot and tasty. The waitress was run of her feet but nothing was too much for her. I would certainly recommend. The only grouse would be, a coffee would have been preferable instead of a pint of lemonade

Wow! What a hidden gem! I had been recommended to come to the boat house many times by friends, so I took my Nan there today and we wasnt disappointed!! Food was amazing! Big portions, large menu, lunchtime course deal which was great value for money. 10/10! Definitely will be returning soon x
