Le premier Hot and Hot Fish Club a été fondé à la fin des années 1700 par les planteurs de All Saints Parish. Le club social était consacré à des activités épicuriennes : cuisine gastronomique, boissons fortes et moments festifs. Le premier club se situait, selon certains dires, sur la légendaire Drunken Jack Island, à quelques kilomètres au sud du Hot Fish Club. Les membres du club d'origine ont décrit leur temps passé sur l'île comme étant les « heures les plus heureuses de leur vie ». Le club a été démantelé et fermé après la guerre de sécession. Un banc de sable toujours changeant, au large de la côte du Huntington Beach State Park, est tout ce qu'il reste du site original. Le Hot Fish Club se trouve aujourd'hui dans le plus vieux bâtiment de restaurant encore existant du Grand Strand. Le Hot Fish Club reste un lieu de rassemblement favori auprès des gens de la région et est ouvert à tous ceux qui cherchent des conversations animées, de la bonne chère et du bon vin, le tout dans l'esprit festif de son ancêtre. “Good Food and Bad Advice.” Such is the motto for this one-of-a-kind restaurant that’s in the planning stages as we go to press. Located beside Hot Fish Club on the southern end of Murrells Inlet, it’s owned and operated by the HFC family – but it’s a totally different experience. The menu is quirky, to say the least, with a focus on affordability – most items run between $4 and $12 – and fresh, locally sourced meats, seafood and produce whenever possible. The team is still working out the particulars, but the choices are definitely different and change frequently to keep things interesting. Take time to explore and expect the unexpected from a restaurant where one of the items offered is described as “kinda weird, but tasty.” Lowcountry looks forward to this new venture from our friends at the Hot Fish Club. With a broad menu, pub-inspired atmosphere and an awesome atmosphere, the IPC is shaping up to be a mighty fun place to hang.
