An exceptionally stylish supper club, civilized speakeasy, a sophisticated saloon. Each of these "personae" is housed in a soaring two-story interior distinguished by a gently curving mahogany bar, fluted columns with ornate capitals, stunning original art, plush banquettes, cozy booths, starched linens, glittering glasses, and polished flatware. Overall, the ambiance is pure 1930's and 1940's - tasteful art moderne reminiscent of the glory days of Cunard and French Line ships. Fashionable and glamorous are the hallmarks. Trendy is simply not a part of the BIX culture. The clientele at BIX ranges from San Francisco movers-and-shakers to "savvy travelers" - owner Doug Biederbeck's term for the many diners in the know from out of town who patronize his establishment. All of them step from the featureless alley into another world - a world of superb cookery and libations, of sparkling service, of stylish nostalgia, of polished live jazz. That world is BIX.

My first time visiting from Houston. Decided to try Mastro's here first opposed to ours on Houston. The menu selection is different. The food was very tasty. The steak and halibut were cooked nicely. The drinks were good. The bubbling lemondrop martini was so fun to look at and drink. It was my birthday and anniversary weekend they made it a special night for us. Dante' our server was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. The ambience is tastefully done. The only issue for me with this place is the lack of valet. But, that's not really a thing to go against the restaurant. I'd recommend this place.... and...I will now have to compare it to the one in Houston.

Very nice valentines day experience. We were greeted with a nice glass of rosé upon entry and had an excellent server to make the night special. Food was great, the highlight being the lobster bisque soup. We were even given a small bottle of extra virgin olive oil to take home. Overall a great experience.

We had not been back to Biscuits and Blues for quite a while, and it is a terrific venue for jazz. The staff could not be more accommodating, the music was terrific, reminding us of our years in New Orleans. We went for the music--the dinner was not the focus; however, we had an experienced New Orleans chef with us--someone who grew up in New Orleans and whose meals have spoiled us--so by comparison, the food was fine but not extraordinary. Go for the total experience, and have a wonderful time
