The Duke of Wellington Inn is nestled in the tranquil Tyne valley village of Newton just off the A69 near Corbridge, within easy access to Newcastle, Hadrian"s Wall Country, Hexham and Northumberland's National Park. The décor reflects the traditional country inns history but with a modern twist. Existing oak and stone has been enhanced with modern colours, furniture and fabrics, and the theme extends to the bedrooms.Lunches and dinners are served seven days a week in the bar and dining room.     We had a really good evening - it felt so reminiscent of when I lived in Montreal and eating Cafe Cherrier on St Lauren! There was a mistake with our my order for the main course but this was dealt with absolutely perfectly (and generously). Service was excellent and the ambiance was really great!! Food was good and the wine excellent!! Elkwater is a great asset to the area! Mark

    We loved the food the menu was explained to us for things we didn’t know. The starters were so good we were almost full before the main course arrived. I had a pudding which was so unusual we loved exploring it. I am going to go back as soon as I can.

    Lovely food and lovely place, first time we have been and booked a table for breakfast which pleased we did as there was a lot of people turning up. Overall food was beautiful and carrot cake gorgeous.
