Welcome to The Warren Restaurant, an extension of The Crowborough Estate, holding stock of Sussex Cattle, Boer Goats, Fallow deer, and Wild boar amongst others which the restaurant draws on for its menu. We are a Dog Friendly restaurant. Given the provenance, the kitchen predominantly cooks British food, occasionally dipping into other cuisines to provide a vehicle for flavours – nettle gnocchi for example, or poached oyster with wild boar chorizo.WE wanted a unique fun and informal restaurant, to offer their Crowborough Estate’s produce from. Just a stones throw from the iconic Groombridge Place and only a 10 minute drive from Tunbridge wells Our is also available for hire and we have an amazing private space perfect for celebrations. There are plenty of activities on our doorstep with wonderful walks and the picturesque Forest Way trail close. Groombridge also benefits from having Harrisons Rocks for keen climbers and the perfect cycling routes across the Ashdown Forest. We had a lovely evening at Essence and felt welcomed and at ease from the moment we arrived. Service was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed the food and the fact that it was a decent portion size. We shared two starters and two mains with rice. We found the overall price pretty reasonable and will be back to sample more on the menu! Essence is definitely a great asset to Tunbridge Wells!! Thank you for a fun evening!!

Ate a fab lunch here today. Roast and a salmon main, and gluten free treacle pudding with custard. All lovely and great value. Staff first class. Will be returning to try the a la carte menu.
