Ospi is the sophomore restaurant of Jackson & Melissa Kalb, focused on Southern Italian cooking and way of life. The name derives from ospitante (“host” in Italian), with the expectation that guests will feel as comfortable at Ospi as they would at a friend’s dinner party. There will be plenty of house-made pastas as well as an expanded offering of pizzas.     The pasta is incredible and the freshness amazing. The Foccaaia was a class apart. Service and knowledge of staff was top notch. Only thing I’d say is the $26 glass of wine was way out of whack with value. Unfortunately this is true at all restaurants now. To have hand made pasta at this level makes this a restaurant worth spending your hard earned money on.

    Elephante was the ideal setting today for a table outside in the sun facing the Pacific Ocean. Staff were welcoming, professional , and knowledgeable about the menu choices. So many tempting menu items. The Shrimp Appetizer was perfectly grilled with a lively, spicy sauce. DELISH! Enjoyed the pizza with Pork, Proscuito, and Honey. Thin crust with lots of flavors. The Bloody Mary came with attractive garnishes and the Arnold Palmers were expertly mixed. Tiramisu was very fresh and tasty. All in all a PERFECTO lunch. Can't wait to return.

    Having grown up in the restaurant biz and after running one of the most successful joints in town, I must say, THIS might be one of the most quintessential places in all of Southern CA. Makai (sp?)greeted us like we were family. Can’t wait to come back.
