Poppies in Hanbury Street was Pop’s first restaurant and the one where the journey began. The retro-diner and takeaway is close to Pop’s heart as it brought 70year old Pat out of retirement. Best plaice that I have had for a long time. Batter very tasty and plenty of ‘meaty’ fish flesh. Fresh and hot … could not eat all the chips!!

The staff were truly excellent and went out of their way to accommodate my very tricky dietary problems. I haven’t been to pizza east in years but it’s as buzzy, lovely and delicious as ever.
