Anatoli Souvlaki was opened by Helen & Thomas in the spring of 1984. They had a dream of combining the food of Greece with great service to add some Mediterranean style to the North Vancouver restaurant selection. They opened in the sleepy neighbourhood of lower Lonsdale and lived above the restaurant to ensure the quality and service. Thomas Makris, from the Island of Skopelos, fell in love when he met Helen Babalos. They met at Orestes Greek restaurant in 1974, while on a Greek dancing tour of North America. Soon after their marriage, they had a vision to open a place like no other in Vancouver; a Greek restaurant where everyone is family; where everyone receives a consistent experience created by delicious homemade authentic food and impeccable service. In 1984 they opened Anatoli Souvlaki in north Vancouver.     What an amazing experience at Loula’s for my best friend’s birthday! We had a big group of 10 and our experience was excellent from before we even sat down. The wonderful Sierra worked some magic to fit our big table in and then the incredible Paige took phenomenal care of us all night! The food and drinks were top notch – I already can’t wait to go back. Thank you Loula’s!

    Exceptional food and wonderful choices of beverages. The staff was great with the kids and could recognize when to check in with parents about drink options. Our server was excellent at recognizing when we needed more time, when we needed help, and who to talk to in order to minimize disruptions or interruptions. The meats and seafood were prepared to perfect finishes. Portions suggested were reasonable and the overall bill was actually quite reasonable for a meal of this calibre.
